Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Visits IRAS

The Institute for Iran-Eurasia Studies (IRAS) was pleased to host Mr. Ibrahim Rahimpour, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia and Oceania, on August 1, 2016 to discuss the potentials of upcoming trilateral meeting with Iranian-Russian and Azerbaijani presidents in Baku, capital city of Azerbaijan on August 8, 2016.
Among some senior experts at IRAS, he stated that issues regarding economy, energy and regional cooperation are high on our list of priorities.
Deputy foreign minister also stressed the importance of the strength and expansion of Tehran-Baku ties and Tehran-Moscow economic and political relationship and said the coming trilateral summit initiative would be the turning point in Iran’s regional and multilateral diplomacy.
The senior experts at IRAS considered and evaluated the potentials and obstacles of Iran-Russia-Azerbaijan dialogue in the upcoming trilateral summit from different angles.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani will visit Azerbaijan on August 8 to discuss regional issues as well as energy and transport cooperation with the Azeri and Russian leaders. Rouhani, Aliyev and Putin are expected to discuss the pressing issues of international and regional policy, and the prospects for practical energy and transport cooperation.
